[ Noctis doesn't reply, mostly because he's already in the car. You're getting your rain check, Prom, but you are also getting a fussy best friend who's currently getting you soup and snacks before heading over. ]

[prompto tries texting noctis a couple more times, but grows frustrated when he can't really type coherent things. the door is locked, but prompto doesn't think about it. to be fair noctis probably has a key anyway. rufus keeps coming to the door and back to the bed, the leash in his mouth. prompto's feeling too sick and groggy, going back and forth between asleep and awake states, to actually be able to notice much of what's happening.]

[it's the stupid medicine that's making him feel like this. if he could shower... maybe he could feel slightly more himself.]

Urgh...

[he coils onto himself, sweaty blankets tucked tight into his arms]

[ Noctis most definitely does have a key. Reason? The locksmith he hired assumed they were a couple.

He won't get into that.

But he arrives in due time, unlocking the door and letting himself in. Rufus clamors to the door, barking and wagging his tail to see a familiar face. Noctis sets his keys down on the nearby table and shuts the door with his foot. ]

Hey buddy.

[ He smiles, taking a second to rub at his head. Rufus still has the leash in his mouth, so Noctis can assume that he's been bothering Prompto. ]

In a bit, Rufus. I got you.

[ He walks towards Prompto's bedroom, bag in hand. ]

Prom?

[it doesn't register that noctis is in, not until prompto startles out of his sleep at his name. he turns over on his side, looking up, struggling momentarily with the blankets.]

[some groggy sounds later--]

Hey.

[not even opening his eyes, arm over them dramatically]

[ He frowns a touch, setting the bag of food at Prompto's side-table. Prompto sounds terrible, and he's not sure what the guy's come down with yet. It doesn't matter though; Noctis isn't afraid of catching anything. He's dealt with enough.

He sits at the edge of the bed, leaning over. ]

Take your temperature yet? C'mon.

[ He taps at Prompto's arm, ushering him to uncover his face. ]

[he uncovers his face, grabbing for noctis' hand. it's a mostly unintentional thing, but the attempted hold is clumsy. it's mostly to help himself up into a sitting position]

Ardyn did, yes'erday.

[the second he gets to sit up, he falls forward, leaning against noctis' arm, sweaty forehead on shirt and damp hair a mussed up mess]

That was yesterd--

[ Prompto grabs his hand, trying to pull himself up. Noctis tries to quickly help, but his timing isn't the best, and so Prompto falls against his arm. Noctis reaches forward, wrapping an arm around Prompto's front. ]

--yesterday, I got you.

[ He scoots forward, grabbing Prompto's pillows to lean them against the wall. Man, Prompto's not doing well at all if he's falling over like that. Noctis grips Prompto by the shoulders to gently usher him into an upright position, against the stack of pillows. ]

Here.

[ He'd be fussed by the closeness, were it not for the seriousness of the situation. Noctis doesn't at all have any qualms about close proximity when he puts his hand to Prompto's forehead.

He grimaces. ]

Dude, you're burning up.

...guess I am.

[the change in position makes him feel a little bit more human, if he's honest. what feels like a headache is not quite there anymore, though he feels it. he manages to open his eyes to offer noctis a smile, hand pressed to his forehead, cool in comparison.]

Thanks for coming, even if I told you not to.

Mm.

[ Noctis hums thoughtfully, smiling at the gratitude. He takes his hand away and leans toward the nightstand, unloading the bag. ]

You've been there on my bad days. S'what friends are for.

[ He takes out a styrofoam bowl and utensils. Hot soup, chock full of noodles, chicken, and vegetables. Clearly for Prompto only. Noctis opens it up and wraps it with napkins to keep it from burning Prompto's hands. ]

Here. Eat as much of it as you can.

[ Next, he hands over the spoon. ]

Is it the flu or something? What're your symptoms? I'll grab some more medicine when I take out Rufus.

[it's so warm, but it also smells delicious. he's just realized how hungry he actually is. smiling, widely, he tries to make sure he doesn't spill it all over himself, and starts eating spoonfuls of it.]

Mmm... Dude, you're gonna make me cry.

[is that a symptom?]

Guess it's just a fever. M'nose is clear and I ain't coughing or anything.

[ He snickers softly, smiling lopsided. ]

You start crying and your nose'll start running.

[ Can't gauge much from those symptoms, but Noctis keeps that in mind for his walk to the pharmacy. He idly adjusts Prompto's blanket, then reaches for more napkins in case there's a mess. ]

Just take it easy for now.

[he looks up after eating some chicken and veggies. rufus barks at the word 'walk']

Yeah. Just wanted to check on you first.

[ He sniffles a bit, then points to the bag. ]

There are some snacks in there. Some tea, too. If you need me to put a pot up for you, I can do that before I head out.

I think I can survive a walk to the kitchen after I finish this.

[energy... it's helping him wake up and feel like he can tackle things.]

Rufus has been waiting a while.

[a pause, as he smiles] Thanks, Noct.

[ Noctis smiles in return, nodding. He sighs as he pats Prompto's lap and stands up. ]

I won't be long.

[ As he makes way for the door, he turns his head one last time. Noctis points at the bowl of food. ]

Eat. You need the energy.

[ And, out the doorway. ]

C'mon Rufus, walk time.
