[prompto's playing around with the electronic settings of the car, happily reclining once the heat starts kicking onto the seats and setting his bag down comfortably by his legs, when noctis starts talking about doctors and treatments]

[his expression is surprised, momentarily, but then he smiles]

Dude, whatever you need. I'll be with you every step of the way, y'know that, right?

[ Noctis softly smiles, gaze only shifting to Prompto for a brief moment with his eyes having to focus on the road. ]

Yeah. I know.

[ And, to that, he tentatively reaches over to take Prompto’s hand. Sentimental all while trying to act cool. It’s true that Prompto is the one he’s doing this for. Not him. Well, he is... But Prompto being worried is just not something Noctis wants. Especially not now.

In the meantime, he drives one-handed, headed towards their mutually shared favorite of a fast food joint. ]

[he says softly, amusement in his voice. his eyes are stuck on their joined hands and at noctis' apparent aloofness towards it (because he's driving), not being able to help just how giddy he feels. this is incredibly romantic for the once-single prompto.]

[when he looks up at noctis again, it's with slightly unrestrained adoration.]

[prompto is so stupidly in love, now that he's sorted out his feelings]

We were a team before, we're still a team now, right? Don't gotta tell me twice where to stand.

[ There’s this comforting warmth that Noctis feels whenever their hands join together, something far more comforting and loving than what he’s used to. It’s not as if they haven’t held hands before, but this carries so much more to it. It piles atop the devoted friendship they have, the feelings that come with it, and stack with this overwhelming feeling of love...

Because Noctis is absolutely certain he’s in love with Prompto. He can’t see himself with anyone else, and when he catches Prompto’s overwhelmingly affectionate gaze? His heart throbs, and he can’t help the bashful smile. Noctis squeezes his hand, gently tugging it towards his lips, where he brushes a kiss along the knuckles as they pull into the drive thru. ]
