[prompto's watching in awe--and excitement. because noctis really went through it, and he was really good about it, too! prompto's glad he hadn't fainted or anything. all in all, it's a pretty good experience, a pretty good date, so far.]

Dude, you became like a hundred times more handsome now. EXP +10 on the cool scale.

[he's grinning, waiting to hear what noctis has to say about his new looks]

[ Prompto seems pretty excited about this, which is... Oddly contagious. The compliment helps, because he starts out being totally uncertain of his feelings on it. But the longer he looks at it, the cooler it seems.

He smiles a bit, looking over to Prompto. ]

Yeah, this is pretty cool. Not as bad as I'd thought it'd be.

You like it?

Duh, I picked it out, bro.

[he smoothes noctis's hair out of the way, before letting it fall flawlessly back in place.]

[it totally hides the piercing]

Just make sure you don't sleep on that side of your face for a while.

[ He watches as his bangs cover it in the mirror, relieved that it'll be as easy to hide as Prompto had said. He gets out of his seat and thanks Kelly, at least feeling the need to dig through his pocket and give her a nice tip. Prompto covered the bill, it's only fair he tips. ]

I'll try not to.

[ Except he always wakes up face-down in his pillow, so that's going to be tough. ]

Now that we're incredibly stylish, where to next?

[he gets the receipt while noct is busy tipping, saying good bye to kelly and the receptionist, before walking out with noctis at his side]

D'you wanna go to the chocobo range? There's eggs that are going to hatch soon!

[ Noctis walks out with Prompto, close by. Of course he wants to go visit the chocobos, and that has Noctis smirking a bit. ]

Sure. Maybe we'll get lucky and you can snap some photos of newborn chicks.

[ He can't say no to seeing chocobos anyway. Nor can he say no to Prompto. ]

Let's get one of their shirts, too. The ones from the gift shop.

Y'wanna take the car or the bus?

[ Noctis looks up in thought, then back to Prompto. ]

Bus trip sounds fun.

[ Plus, he like being a somewhat-normal person. ]

[prompto loves this--he does; getting to spend time with his boyfriend and just go through the mundane routines of the day. it's taken some months but, over time, he's gotten more comfortable with the idea that people are not hyper-focusing on them all the time. that people don't mind as they hop up on the bus and get a seat towards the back (prompto the one at the window, of course); that people don't mind prompto preferring to lean against noctis rather than the glass; that people don't mind his hand raised, fingers softly brushing back dark bangs, glancing obsessively at the new feature of his boyfriend's face.]

[he's smiling wide, unable to contain himself]

We're gonna feed all the chocobos, right?

[just humour him]

[ Little mundane things like this are what make their dates all the more special. He feels normal around Prompto, free. And in their mutual comfort of being more openly affectionate in comfort, he feels fine with taking Prompto's hand as they board the bus.

They sit close, where Noctis happily lets Prompto lean against his shoulder. He smiles as they take a seat and Prompto so sweetly reaches for his bangs. He's being ridiculously affectionate and sweet right now; it's cute to him. He'll happily allow Prompto to fuss over his hair and stare at the new accessory he's sporting.

He chuckles at the request. ]

Every last one.

[ His hand gently pats at Prompto's knee. ]

Let's take a ton of pictures while we're there.

[at the hand to his knee, prompto happily leans in, cheek against noctis's shoulder in contentment.]

It's like you're trying to humor me. Chocobos and pictures. The perfect date.

[he happily sits up again to keep hovering over the piercing, staring at it and delighting in the fact that noctis decided to let him choose what his first body mod would be. it's kind of really cool. and flattering.]

We're gonna be there all day, y'know.

[ Noctis briefly lets his head lean against Prompto's, smiling his little lopsided smile. Already, this is a good day. Prompto seems content, and that's honestly all he cares about. The fact that he's so excited about the piercing is more than enough for him. ]

Fine by me. I'm just as much a fan of chocobos as you are.

[ He's just not as enthusiastic about it. ]

Besides, you're excited. That makes this worth it.

I mean, why shouldn't I be?

[he pulls back only to put his arm around noctis. this pda stuff might not be so bad after all, especially if it were to be considered just bros being bros.]

Hangin' out with my best friend.

[that's what they are, in the end]

You feeling cooler at all?

[ Yeah, exploring being this affectionate in public is certainly new. Not at all unpleasant by any means. No one seems to be watching or care, so Noctis feels comfortable enough to keep this going. He scoots closer, snaking his hand behind Prompto in kind.

They certainly area still best friends.

Idly, he lifts his free hand up to push his bangs from his eyes. ]

Dunno...

Depends on what the guy I'm trying to impress thinks.

[ Obviously, that's Prompto. Made pointedly clear by the way he looks at him, brow perked. ]

[get to his heart by insinuating his opinion is the most important. prompto's all happy smiles and excited eyes as he responds:]

--yeah, of course it's cool. You've always been the coolest.

[and perhaps at times his genuine earnestness is too much]

[ His smile gets a little lopsided at that, flattered beyond words. ]

Then I feel extremely cool.

[ He absolutely loves this. This is the most relaxed and at ease he's felt in weeks, and Noctis has no problems at all with the day going on like this until nightfall. They could be out until three in the morning for all he cares. Just being around Prompto is everything.

The bus ride is a bit long, considering the many stops, until they reach their destination. Noctis gets up and waits for Prompto to slip from their little corner of the bus, and he carefully takes Prompto's hand. ]

Ready to get going?

[hand held, prompto hops off the step where their seats were and then literally hops out the bus's door at the back, following after noctis. his hands are swinging, the sunshine in his step rivaling the sunshine above them.]

[of course he's ready]

Do you think there were also chocobos in Insomnia? Wonder what kinda things we did when we hung out.

Do you remember if you weren't allowed to certain places 'cause of your status?

[ Noctis has his lopsided smile glued in place, holding Prompto's hand and allowing their arms to swing the whole way. By the way he expresses himself, he looks more endeared to Prompto's excitement than mirroring it.

He can already smell the chocobos from here. Not too far of a walk now. ]

Actually, the only memories of Insomnia I have are after the fall. I don't even know what it looked like before.

I guess if I was allowed to travel so far outside it, I'd have been allowed around town as I wanted.

Seemed kinda like a modern day monarchy. Prince Charles has been doing what he wants for ages.

[ Bad comparison. ]

[prompto snorts at that, letting go of noctis's hand to instead put his hand inside one of his trouser's back pockets. a nice feel of ass in the palm of his hand.]

I wish you'd remember Insomnia. The sky glittered. It was a lot cleaner than here, and a lot prettier. The big buildings were made mostly of glass. There was tons of big screens and it was super modern looking.

Seemed like a nice place to call home.

Eh. Probably.

[ No disagreement there. Noctis never really knows what he's talking about. There's the slightest jolt when he feels Prompto's hand stuff itself into his back pocket, which is a surprise. Prompto really must have gotten past his discomfort with PDA...

Oh well. He won't question it. Noctis returns the gesture and does much the same, hand directly on his boyfriend's behind.

His eyes are still forward, and he looks contemplative when the discussion of Insomnia comes up. He tries picturing it not in ruin. It's hard, because there was barely anything left in the memories he's had.

Noctis finds himself curious. ]

Did... You ever see the Citadel? Before it was destroyed.

I think I gotta tell you straight off the bat, I never saw Insomnia under any bad condition. Destroyed or abandoned or otherwise.

[...not that he remembers anyway]

[does that mean he wasn't there to see insomnia and the citadel like noctis remembers seeing it?]

[ Noctis frowns a bit. ]

I've only ever seen it in shambles.

The Citadel was where that other me had lived. Any time I've ever walked through those memories, it's just been sad.

Like there was no hope for it.

[bad territory to go into on their date. prompto pauses, removes his hand from noctis's pocket, and stands in front of his boyfriend. they're right at the entrance of the petting zoo--and thus the chocobo ranch inside. he puts his hands at either side of noctis's jawline and presses a kiss to his lips; slow, gentle.]

[when he pulls back he offers a small smile]

Let's focus on happier things for now, yeah? Hopefully you remember about the chocobo post that I remember from Eos. I think I loved that place.

[his hands move down to hold onto noctis's own, swinging their hands a little]

...as curious as I am about our home away from the now, I don't want you feeling down.

[ Noctis halts as Prompto abruptly walks in front of him, brows raised and expression curious. He’s about to question it, but he’s stopped prematurely by a sweet kiss. It takes him a moment to return the gesture, but he ultimately falls into it, stopped when Prompto speaks.

Oh... That did get a little dark for a second didn’t it? ]

Ah.

Yeah. Guess you’re right.

[ No sad crap. He lets his hands get swung a little and smiles. ]

Okay. Let’s talk a walk down unfamiliar-memory lane.

[prompto likes that, when noctis smiles that soft, slanted smile of his. he kisses it again--for good measure.]

Yeah, let's.

[after buying their entrance tickets, prompto immediately leads them towards the chocobo ranch. he wants to get in the pen to touch the chocobos and pet them, but they've got to wait in line. he's excitedly hopping on his feet so he can see which of the chocobos are up and about]

I don't think I see any chicks yet...
