It's two in the morning.

[he says instead, awed by the time rather than by noctis's punctuality. he embraces his boyfriend tightly--feeling himself get washed over with emotion.]

[things are going to be okay between them]

...Cloud's asleep, so, be quiet.

[he pulls back, keeping close, hand on noctis's shirt, as he leads the way inside the apartment proper and then to his room. he closes the door behind them, and makes way for the bed, immediately pressing close]

[ Noctis’ smile gets a little lopsided and modest at the mention of the hour. It’s no trouble at all to him; he’d drive cross-country at this hour for Prompto if he had to.

The embrace is sudden, but not at all unwanted. Noctis wraps his arms around Prompto in kind, washed over with relief that everything’s okay between them. He’s not allowed to linger long, however, before Prompto tugs him by the shirt into the apartment and in his room.

He’s quiet as instructed, even as they both collapse onto Prompto’s bed. Noctis scoots back, providing ample room, tugging Prompto close to him. His voice is at a whisper. ]

Better?

So much better.

[is the quiet confession.]

[he looks up, a smile on his lips, and then returns to nuzzling against noctis's chest]

[he hopes he doesn't need to say it--and he probably doesn't, honestly--but noctis's presence here is everything. he feels safe, wanted, cared for. together with noctis, he feels happy and confident enough to take on any challenge. his better half, pretty much.]

[ Noctis isn’t the best at gauging things. He misses a lot of hints still, awkward as he is. But he’s gotten better. He wants to continue to get better. For Prompto’s sake.

As Prompto seeks to nuzzle close, Noctis opens up to facilitate it. He lays on his back, Prompto effectively draped over him as he runs his hand over his shoulder and back. He presses his nose into his hair, closing his eyes as he hangs on to the affirmation. ]

Good.

[ Because that’s what his job is. To make Prompto stronger as a person, to lift him up when he’s down. Argument or no, nothing is worth the sacrifice of their closeness. Prompto doesn’t at all need to say it, because he feels the same way. He wouldn’t be alive if it weren’t for this guy. ]

I got work super early.

[his language is slurred--no surprises there, sleepy as he is way past his bedtime]

Y'can sleep in. I won't mind.

[ Noctis closes his eyes, basking in this. He rubs circles around his back. ]

I’ll get up with you.

[ Said easily.

[prompto smiles at that, legs shuffling in suppressed excitement. he holds on tighter to noctis--and it's going to suck because it's going to get pretty hot pretty soon, but...]

[it's fine]

Love you.

[ Noctis is always cold for some reason, so being this close to his boyfriend is ideal. He cuddles close, arm settling for wrapping around him entirely. It’s going to stink being up early, but he wants to be with Prompto as much as he can. He’ll take him out for breakfast and bring him to work. Maybe drop by for lunch. Because he’s so happy with this guy and he’s so relieved that they’ll make it.

Noctis closes his eyes, kissing the top of Prompto’s head. ]
