[he's gonna talk and calculate to himself for a bit before shaking his head and slamming the menu closed]

[ Still, he playfully kicks Prompto’s foot. He lets his boyfriend talk to himself about his choices, deciding on the ravioli himself. ]

Says on the bottom of the menu that there might be dairy products. I’d stick with the fish.

[ He wrinkles his nose. ]

[ SIGHS AND CHOOSES SOMETHING ELSE. ]

Noctis leans into the menu, pursing his lips. ]

[ He's not gonna cause trouble! Plus the "couple hundreds" are totally to spoil his boyfriend, okay? ]

[prompto smiles at that after noctis concludes that he's ready. he pokes at noctis' cheek]

[and leans back, hands on his lap. when he sees a server, he raises his hand and sets to action, telling them their orders. water for himself, disgusting pop for this guy here, thanks, i know, so unhealthy. he won't even eat his veggies, right!?]

[ Noctis turns a touch red at the poke and the comment. And his smile is lopsided when the waiter comes around and Prompto still fusses with him. But it hardly makes him angry. He loves when Prompto is playful and dorky; it's the best part of him.

Once the orders are made, Noctis leans back in his seat. ]

I've never seen my dad in the memories of Insomnia, actually. Don't really remember my life besides traveling with you and those other guys.

I can draw the inside... Ardyn was there. He’s about as confused as I am that we remember it, but uh...

[ He starts to draw it out. He’s piss poor at art, but he manages to map out where the throne and large, gaping hole in the wall was. There’s a feint skyline of the city past the wall, and he draws where the Crystal sat. Behind the throne. A few circles depict where the bodies hung. Noctis wrinkles his nose, finding that thinking about it makes him feel pretty foul.

The more he thinks about it, the more he feels... Weirdly and personally violated. Like it had happened to him or someone he knew directly. A strange sense of ownership. ]

[prompto frowns, studying the drawn picture, bringing his phone closer to himself and his face, consequently]

Hmm...

Looks a lot more modern than what I imagined. [saves the drawn picture for later reference with a few taps of his fingers] Y'know, maybe he's related to the throne somehow.

[ Connected to the throne? Noctis sounds a touch uncertain, but he crosses his arms and leans back against his seat. ]

I guess anything’s possible. Can’t totally discredit everything until we know for sure.

[ He pauses. ]

[ Because they’re adults on a date and of course they can play video games if they want to!

Noctis whips out his phone and fires up the app. ]

Gonna try beating my high score again?

Dude, now it just feels like you're making fun of me.

[he pouts, his app still loading... and he hears noctis already on the main quest animation]

Y'know my phone's crappy.

[it overheats after a while, and prompto counts his lucky stars that the app hasn't frozen with any new update, yet]

No matter how hard I try, I'll never beat it.

[ Noctis cranes his neck, curious as he looks over to see that Prompto’s phone is taking forever to load. He’s had that brick since they met (well, from his new perspective. Things are still foggy/nonexistent from before his coma ]

[ Oh no, that pout. ]

I think it might be time to put that phone to rest, dude.

Why don’t we go pick you one up on the way home?

Yeah, lemme just put down my monthly wage for a new one...

[mumble mumble... finally getting to the main quest page. checks his zell tree and every other new notif]

[ Noctis perks a brow. ]

Not if I’m the one buying it. You pay too much for your plan anyway.

[oh, whoops? prompto sinks a little in the booth, belatedly realizing that all his whining sounded like--whining, basically]

Nah, it's cool. I'm exaggerating anyway.

[tiny voice, tapping at upgrades for his main]

[ Noctis purses his lips. ]

You sure? That thing takes forever to load and drops calls all the time.

--I just feel bad to make it sound like I expect you to spend money on me.

[is what he quickly says]

[ Noctis sets down his phone, softly smiling as he adjusts himself in his seat. ]

Would it make you feel better if I said I like spending money on you?

...it's kinda hard to adjust. Not to be a downer, but y'know what my life's like. We're never gonna be equals when it comes to money, but that isn't why I like you. That never was why I wanted to be your friend.

Prompto, I never thought that for a second.

[ Noctis says that quickly, keeping his smile as he reaches forward for his hand. ]

I can tell the difference, I promise. If I thought that’s all you were in for, we wouldn’t have become friends or started dating.

[ He pauses, flushing a bit as he pulls his hand back. ]

Plus, I... Would like to think we’re on our way to being serious enough that... you know, what’s mine is yours. I don’t mind taking care of you.

[noctis pulls his hand back, but prompto reaches out for it again, a big smile on his face suddenly after he processes what noctis said]

I don't have much, but yeah, whatever I have. I'll do my best to take care of you, too.
