Says the one talking like a baby.

[ Was any of that even English? How the hell did he understand it? Probably because they've been drunk together a million times. Noctis can't help but snort to the fact that Prompto is wearing most of the water he brought over. ]

You'd better hope you're not massively hungover for tomorrow, best man.

[mercurio]

[he'll panic about that tomorrow, and the speech he's got to say, and all that]

Everyone's gonna be drunk, s'fine.

[kittycaterer]

Uh huh.

[ There's really no use arguing with a drunk, so he doesn't. Prompto's definitely out of it, because his hair is a bit of a mess. Noctis reaches over to get some of his bangs away from his eyes. ]

What else did you do tonight?

[mercurio]

We went to the spa and I didn't really wanna join but I couldn't let Sorey go by himself so I fought against the stone things and man it was hot but like I've never had a spa day before it was niiiice.

[smiles at the hair fixing and hums a bit, forgetting that he's supposed to talk about today]

That was in the morning there was like a really annoying bug flying in my room though like, whaaaaat, is up with that, even. Yeah.

[ Noctis's lips press in a crooked line as he perks a brow, thrown off when his regaling of the day takes an unexpected shift to something about a bug. Seems like Prompto can't stay on one subject. Again, rambling. ]

Forgot you don't like bugs.

[ Is he going to be able to keep up with this? Geez. ]

[mercurio]

Oh, man, bugs!

[he's working tediously on now removing his shoes, and scarf, and jacket... it's way too hot in this apartment]

They're tiny and crawly and they're all over! I feel so itchy now!

[kittycaterer]

[ Noctis snorts, swatting away Prompto's hands so he can take care of it himself. ]

I know, icky.

[ Scarf off! Time for the jacket. ]

Stop wiggling.

[mercurio]

[stops wiggling and stays still entirely]

I'm no worm, I don't wiggle.

[kittycaterer]

Okay. Toddler.

[ Noctis pulls Prompto's jacket off and grabs his scarf, getting up to put them on the coat hanger. ]

Scale of 1 to 10, how drunk are you?

[mercurio]

Why do we ask that to drunk people? How can drunk people tell?

[he has an argument. not a solid one, but one.]

[kittycaterer]

Are you seeing one of me or multiple.

[ He puts his hand on his hip. Just trying to gauge Prom. ]

[mercurio]

[after a moment of silence]

...trick question. Next!

[kittycaterer]

Wh--

[ Noctis knits his brow. ]

How is that a trick question?

[mercurio]

I'm not ready to start countin', Noct! Not again!

[kittycaterer]

[ He laughs. ]

Not again?

[mercurio]

[he makes 'no' hand motions, swinging them into an x in front of him]

Ever.

[kittycaterer]

[ Still laughing. ]

I don't even know what you're talking about.

[ He plops back down again on the couch, casually wrapping his arm over Prompto's shoulders. ]

You're wasted, dude.

[mercurio]

[he doesn't mind that, leaning into noctis]

I'm Prompto.

[kittycaterer]

[ His arm bends once Prompto is closer, reaching up to run his fingers through Prompto's hair. ]

Nice to meet you, Prompto.

[mercurio]

Hmm.

[he stays like this, comfortable and cared for, breathing evening out--] How long f'New Year?

[kittycaterer]

[ He holds out his wristwatch, taking a look. ]

... Ten minutes.

[ Crossing his legs, he's fine sitting here with Prompto in the meantime. ]

Missed you.

[mercurio]

It's been a really long day.

[that's just a slur of a bunch of sounds]

[kittycaterer]

Did the groom have a good time?

[ Still ruffling that hair. Ruffle ruffle. ]

You worked pretty hard to set everything up. Should be proud of yourself.

[mercurio]

You bet.

[if there's one thing prompto wants to be proud of, is the fact that--yes--the groom and company did have fun. he had fun, despite the fact that he tried to drink people under the table and failed miserably.]

[wedding day is gonna be miserable but that's for future prompto to handle, not him.]

[he starts picking out change from his pockets, though, a few bills and coins that clatter clumsily onto the floor and coffee table]

--here's [woops, a burp, lel] payin' you back...

[with two bucks and eighty-six cents, yes.]

[ Noctis watches as Prompto pulls money and change from his pocket. It clatters on the coffee table and floor, and he’s surprised Prompto hasn’t eaten it and fallen forward. It’s kind of adorable, actually. Because it’s a whole $2.86, and he’s too wasted to register that he guesses. But Noctis humors him, reaching forward and taking the money, placing it in his pocket. ]

I’ll be sure not to spend it all in one place.

[ He exhales a little laugh, reaching over to card his fingers through Prompto’s hair. ]

Maybe we should set you down for bed, huh? We’ll do the countdown there. And you can get some sleep.
